Madame Buttoner

Today is a very special day in our household. This morning my youngest child became a buttoner. Oh yes, she buttoned her sweater all by herself and she was damn proud. She insisted on high-fives until they hurt. Of course it was a play hurt but that girl wanted to plant some palm.

Our first day back wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I’m tired but not exhausted and the kids held up pretty well, too. By the end of the day they were ready for bed and poor Iain’s allergies are acting up. We had the doors and windows open and there were a couple neighbors cutting their lawns. We found out the hard way a year or two ago that Iain seems to be allergic to fresh cut grass. By the time he went to bed one of his eyes was black underneath and puffed up as if he were a prize fighter. I dosed him with some Benadryl and that should help him sleep. Now I have to gauge whether or not he’ll need a dose before school some days.
