I’m too tired to think of a title for this post

Man was I beat today. I never went over to the other house (I have to start referring to it as such because if I keep referring to it as my mom’s house then I’ll never feel like we’re more than guests) today because I almost couldn’t stay awake. I’m pretty sure it has to do with my ripping off my mask at some point early in the night combined with my going to bed too late with school being back in session. I’m getting to bed around midnight which, while better than the 2am turn-in I was pulling during the summer, doesn’t work very well with a 6:30 am wake time. It was a two-pot day just to stay half awake. Yuck.

Yesterday was a really long day. I went by the other house not too long after taking the kids to school since the waterproofing guy was coming by at 9:30am to give us an estimate. He took a look, measured the house and all that. He seemed like a straight-up guy and the company checks out with the BBB and all that. The price is steep but from what I’m seeing it’s about average in the area for this size of home. This is one of those times when a big ranch can cost you more. There’s more area to cover because the square footage is all on one floor rather than split between two.

I can’t stomach thinking we’re going to be paying almost $9k to waterproof the basement but it has to be done before we start getting major damage. It has to be done now in my opinion and my mother agrees. It sucks to pay that kind of money into something like that and you think at first that it’s nothing you’ll get enjoyment out of but I assure you I’ll enjoy not having to worry about water seeping through the walls and ruining the foundation, inside walls, floors, carpeting, belongings etc. and creating a huge mold problem. It just sucks because it’s so very practical and responsible. It’s more fun throwing that money into a kitchen or a bathroom.

I had to run to the mall to buy something suitable to wear to the funeral of a friend’s mom because I hadn’t a stitch to wear. After looking at prices, I was reminded why I don’t often buy clothes for myself — expensive! I’d do it at Target and have bought this or that there before but their Plus department is at best two or three rows with not much of a selection. This surprises me because before the store was remodeled, there was a much larger selection. Jerks.

The funeral was what you’d expect but it was nice to see friends I’d not seen in awhile. Thankfully my friend was doing well considering her mother had just passed and I was glad for that. I hate seeing my friends in pain. I’m sure it’s been hard for her but she seemed okay and I hope she does okay tomorrow morning at mass and internment. That’s always the worst time.

Tomorrow it’s back to work. Jeff is on a long weekend so I’ll be at work on the kids’ rooms first and then work myself downstairs. Jeff will have to stop by Home Depot to get some supplies and then I’ll immerse myself in the crap of the dungeon basement. Okay, maybe it’s not a dungeon but for now that’s how it shall be known. There are demons down there I must battle! Or something like that.
