The power of the Internet

Back when my brother moved out of my mom’s home, I naturally asked him for his new address. I asked him a few times in email conversations we’ve had but after he kept blowing me off it was obvious he didn’t feel like sharing. He gave me his cell number which I already had when I asked him for his phone number. I thought maybe he had land line phone service when he moved so that’s why I asked. I asked my mom if he had given her his address but she he never shared with her either.

At first I was at a loss as to why he would blow us off about his address. I mean, who does that? Why? Then it occurred to me that his girlfriend was the one who didn’t want us knowing. Why? Well, because she’s here illegally from Canada and I think she’s worried that if I had the address I’d turn her in to INS. She’s a very paranoid girl and I’m not sure why but it seems she’s also hiding from her parents. Story has it that she left their home because they were too strict as they are traditionally Chinese and very much old world. At least this is what I’ve heard. I’ve never met them nor know anything about them to say for sure.

Since March, after he blew us off and it occurred to me why he might be doing such a thing, I’ve been checking PeopleFinder.com to see if his information has updated. When you do a name search you can see what city they are listed as living in and since he had lived with my mom for 21 years (at this home) and then only recently moved to a neighboring city, it was easy to see if his info updated. $7.95 later and I now have his home address.

You know, here’s my mom living alone and sick and even though she has his cell number, she should also know where her son lives. It’s beyond words the way he is acting and I’m glad that I have some more substantial contact information other than his cell phone number. It’s really sad that I have to pay an Internet records search site to find out my own brother’s address. If I were truly evil I’d send his girlfriend informational brochures from INS addressed directly to her. Instead I’ll just leave a burning bag of poo on their doorstep. Nah, that sounds too much like work. ;)
