Strategy Avenue — the blog
Yes, many professional photographers (or those who dream of one day being a professional) are hopelessly artsy-fartsy and forget that there is another side to the photography business than snapping away or coveting a new lens — the business side. If the business aspect isn’t something you want to think about then seriously consider whether image making is better suited as a hobby for you.
Laura Novak and John Meyer (soon to be married in February of 2008 — congratulations if you’re reading) co-author a blog called Strategy Avenue and it’s definitely worth reading if you’re serious about being a professional. Pretty pictures are nice but running a business and attempting to make a livelihood out of it takes work and knowledge of the ins and outs of the less-fun stuff. Not interested? Stick to Flickr. You’ll thank me for the advice eventually.
