Safari 3 Public Beta for Windows
I’m always one to try out new browsers just to get a feel for what’s out there. Firefox is definitely my favorite so far but I felt like I was missing out because Safari was only available for the Mac. It’s now available for Windows in a Beta version (Safari 3 Public Beta–click to download) so I thought I’d give it a whirl.
I’m installing it right now and my first observation is that from the time I clicked on the install icon until it showed the welcome screen for the installation was a few minutes. I don’t know if it’s my laptop or a quirk of the installation software but that’s way too long. I haven’t had that experience with anything else I’ve installed. In fact, when the welcome popped up, I had already forgotten that I started installing it in the first place. I clicked install once and when nothing happened I manually stopped it. I tried again and left it to bake and by the time it started I had moved on to other things. Gotta love my short attention span. Anyhow, this seems to be continuing at each phase of installation. I hope this isn’t an omen. I’ll try to take it for a test run tonight.
