Why I hate Bill Gates

Bill Gates hates meI personally hold him responsible for the last few days of my life. All I wanted to do is copy everything off of my old hard drive and put it on the newer, bigger one. Then I wanted to slide the new one in the bay and start up my laptop as if nothing had changed.

Sounds easy, no? Yeah, well, no. After trying to do a simple backup and recovery, buying a network cable and then finally making my old laptop hard drive an external so that I could attempt the grand cut and paste, I ended up having to format the new drive and start from scratch. I have the old hard drive connected so I’m slowly taking things and trying to get them to the new one but it’s such a pain in the ass. Stupid Bill Gates. Stupid Windows. Stupid computer.

When you have everything set up just so on your computer, it brings you joy. Well, at least it brings me joy. Being someone who likes to hold on to the joyous things in her life, I simply wanted what I had–only bigger. Apparently that’s not possible both in life and with computers. I have friends who sing the praises of Macs and for the longest time I was content to coast along in my PC naivety and resist the unfamiliar. From what I hear, I can’t believe that it would be this challenging to do what I wanted to do on a Mac. Of course, if I were to believe them, the Mac would know what I wanted without me saying a word and would do it and make me a PiƱa Colada at the same time. At this point, I believe it.
